Moviescan will convert your old footage into a digital format. Having your precious memories transferred into a movie file means that they can live forever in the digital world we live in today. They can also be copied multiple times and shared with relatives and friends through social media etc.
We can convert any format whether its on film or video so your box of films and camcorder tapes can all be stored on a single memory stick or hard drive. We always return your media though so you can retain it for future generations.
Our transfer process is more advanced than many you will come across. We use high quality equipment which employs the latest technology to photograph every frame of film. These individual cell images are then converted into a high resolution movie file by combining all the frames - which will be over 4000, for a 4 minute 50ft cine reel. The resulting digital movie file is then passed into sophisticated restoration software which helps to reduce the effects of dirt, scratches and other marks that can appear. The output from this process results in stunning image quality that many feel is better than the original. We take care however, to retain the original feel of the footage without over processing so it doesn't loose its character and feel of old film.

We can offer a similar service for video. If you have old camcorder video tapes but no longer have a working method to play them - we can help. We will play the tape on one of our master decks and capture the output into our video workstation. From here it is passed through the restoration software which will enhance the image quality and reduce the video "noise" that is introduced when filming on magnetic tape.
Both cine film and video will degrade over time making the contents unwatchable. Cine film can chemically alter which caused colours to disappear and ultimately disintegrate.
