Welcome to Leicestershire Wildfowlers Association
Here at Leicestershire Wildfowlers Associations, we are a community of shooting enthusiasts with a passion for conservation.
About Us
In the 1950's there was a group of Leicestershire wildfowlers who used to meet up in Doug Poli's shop in Marfit Street in Leicester. The shop sold a selection of:
• Fishing tackle
• Electrical goods
• Shotguns
Amongst the fowlers was Frank Wildman who had met up with two wildfowlers who had told them they had set up their own wildfowling club.
Over time Frank and his wildfowling friends had worried that with the increasing restrictions could end the sport of wildfowling, which is why they needed to get together and defend their interests!
Trying to get interested sportsmen to a meeting, the team put an advert in the Leicester Mercury, notices in the national sporting press and adverts in shop windows. The response which they received was overwhelming and the first meeting was held in November 1957.
Still going strong, Leicestershire Wildfowlers Association has a wide community of enthusiasts who offer a large plot of land who offers a selection of services to meet everyone's needs including:
• Wildfowling
