Metier Rendezvous - established 2010
Metier Rendezvous is a friendly informal support network for Interior Designers. Founded by Siobhan Casey in 2010, Metier Rendezvous has grown year on year primarily via word of mouth.
The group started off with my college mates from KLC School of Design. We all got on really well together during the course, and used to meet up and have post-mortem chats after each course deadline. After graduation in 2010, we remained close and were all going through similar experiences in trying to get a job or even an internship in the middle of the recession.
I really wanted the group to keep in touch, as I believed that with shared knowledge and experiences, we would be in a stronger position as professional designers. There was only one thing for it - I volunteered to organise a quarterly get-together where we would discuss everything - CV's, internships, great suppliers, the job market, PR and so on.
Since that start, the group has grown year-on-year, continuing to expand with new members found through friends of friends, word-of-mouth and so on. We're still a well-rounded bunch from recent graduates to seasoned professionals, all passionate about design and looking to support and encourage each other in the business of design.
We meet up about 6 times a year over brunch on a Saturday morning and our sessions are relaxed and informal and everyone is very friendly.
Our Metier Rendezvous website, maintains a database of 1000+ suppliers who our Metier Members have thought were brilliant enough to share. After all, if a supplier is that good, we're all keen for them to stay in business and hence happy to recommend them.

Siobhan has done outstanding work as the founder and on-going coordinator of the Metier Rendezvous group. She organises and arranges all of our meetings and to say that they would not happen if not for her is not an exaggeration. She is organised, focused and helpful with seemingly limitless energy and encouragement. She has a clear vision and great ideas for the future of our group; that will grow it into an invaluable resource for its members as they start out in the world of interior design.
