What is Pilates and why should I be interested?
You've probably heard of Pilates and how good it is for you. And you may have seen the beautiful, perfect Pilates bodies on social media and heard about the long list of celebrities who are devoted Pilates practitioners.
The problem with these images on social media is they can be intimidating, because, let's be honest, we don't look anything like these people in the pictures. We're just normal women with all the imperfections that make us perfect.
But what is pilates and why is it so loved by those social media influencers?
Let me tell you.
Pilates is good for you!
Pilates has so many benefits and you certainly don't have to have a 'perfect' body to get started. Pilates shouldn't be about the looks, it's about how it makes you feel. And I can assure you, once you get started and have the first few sessions under your belt, you'll feel the difference. You'll notice that after a while you have better posture, feel stronger and you significantly improve your flexibility and your body shape starts to change.

Pilates for Bone Health
I joined your Pilates classes to help improve my bone strength with increasing age, and to help with pains in hip and back. I was attracted by the 'bone health' aspect of the class I joined. It's not the closest class to where I live, but all the ones I saw in my area were full of much younger, fitter people, and I was certainly concerned about being the odd one out.
The 10.30 Friday class is full of delightful people, and we're all supportive of each other. I have found it extremely helpful and, though I still have pains, I think with Ingrid's help I've developed strategies to manage them and improve my mobility.
Pilates for Bone Health
I should just say how much I enjoy the classes and feel so much "looser"
and invigorated afterwards. I would recommend Pilates, not only for the
exercise and feelings of wellbeing, but also the expert help from Ingrid
and being with a friendly group.
