Learning in nature since 2005
Each morning, the Wildflowers children explore, play and learn in woods and parkland. In the afternoon, they eat a warm meal and engage in creative activities in a converted barn.
At Wildflowers, we foster an attitude of being active in learning - to be curious, challenge oneself, solve problems and persevere. We nurture creative thinking by asking open questions and exploring possibilities together. The children express themselves through play, movement, sounds, art and construction both outdoors and indoors. We teach mathematics at each child's level of understanding, based on their individual learning plan. The children are taught to read when showing interest and ability, following our phonics programme.
Our educational provision was judged 'outstanding' in our three latest inspections. From Ofsted report of 2020:
"Children are highly valued as unique individuals. They flourish above expected levels of development due to skilful teaching. Children are extremely motivated to learn and are constantly eager to know more. Children have exceptionally high levels of curiosity and imagination. They integrate the natural resources around them seamlessly into their play. Children have extraordinary levels of self-control, resilience and respect. They have a superb awareness of the rules and boundaries of the setting and follow these easily. This leads to a remarkably calm environment."
