Hi there, my name is Tim Arnott and welcome to my website Therapy UK Counselling and Psychotherapy. I am a Masters Qualified Registered Counsellor and Psychotherapist operating in Leeds city centre (LS1) and York (YO41). As a therapist I help individuals talk about their feelings, think about their choices and help them to achieve positive changes in their lives through the counselling process.

You have most likely arrived at this website because you or someone you know is thinking about counselling and psychotherapy. This can be a worrying and confusing time and at this stage you probably just need information about what counselling is and how you can make use of it.

WHAT IS COUNSELLING/PSYCHOTHERAPY

Counselling is often referred to as a 'talking therapy'. It is not about me telling you what to do - rather it will encourage you to talk about what is concerning you. I will listen with empathy and help you explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment in a safe, confidential and secure therapeutic space.

SO WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS IN THERAPY?

The process of exploration which we will undertake together will help you achieve greater insight and understanding of your problems. It will help you understand yourself better and help you find solutions to resolve or cope with your situation.

During the therapy session I will encourage you to talk about your life, events, emotions, feelings, ways of thinking and patterns of behaviour. Whilst listening carefully I will encourage your thinking to help you to see things more clearly and sometimes I will challenge you to see things in a different way.

My comfortable and relaxing therapy room is conveniently located in Leeds city centre with scenic views over the Leeds Liverpool canal and River Aire.
