Knowles Skirting & Architrave is a trading name of E. & S. W. Knowles & Co. Ltd, a company that was founded more than 90 years ago and is still going strong.

Your local timber merchants , is a family business. It has been handed down through the generations in the Knowles family and has continuously developed to suit the needs of the construction industry, including the addition of 'forest friendly' timber in our FSC products.

We are a major supplier of both MDF and timber products to both the trade sector and to the public. All our customers are valuable to us, whether you are a member of the public doing some home improvements, a small trader using our products on jobs or a larger organisation, we will try our best to deliver amazing customer service as well as providing a premium quality product.



Using materials from sustainable sources is important to us and has led to accreditation from the FSC and PEFC, both of whom are international non-profit organisations that work tirelessly to promote the sustainable management of the world's forests.

We act as a supplier for a range of large companies and our products have been used by the Olympic Village, Jaguar Land Rover and Abbey Road Studios to name a few. As well as skirting and architrave, we produce other timber products on site including door frames and window boards.

With over 60 staff employed on site, we have a wealth of experience and our craftsmanship is second to none. Our skilled workers are experts in the production of the skirting boards, architrave, window boards and door frames that are crafted daily at our in-house manufacturing plant.

Our products are made to order, minimizing the chances of damage and bowing. An unfortunate natural progression of timber is that it can bow or warp when it is left to stand for too long. Making all our products to order minimizes the chance of damage and ensures our customers always receive premium quality timber products.

We try to work as quickly as possible, keeping lead times to a minimum whilst maintaining our quality control processes. We aim to deliver all MDF products within 3 working days and all timber products between 5-7 days.
