Fort Augustus Abbey is, without doubt, one of the finest old buildings in the north of Scotland with a fascinating history, turbulent at times, starting out as a military garrison and, ironically perhaps, later converted into a place of peace by St Benedictine monks. Recently redeveloped, the abbey now provides some of the best self catering holiday rental apartments and cottages in Scotland with many indoor and outdoor facilities to cater for family holidays and secluded hideaways for couples. Now we also feature other top quality cottages and lodges on Loch Ness in our Elite Cottages section and high quality self catering Edinburgh Breaks.

Loch Ness Lakeside Location

Fort Augustus Abbey is just an hour drive south of Inverness and north of Fort William in the Scottish Highlands. Excellent road, rail and air links provide easy access. A flight from London to Inverness takes a little under 90 minutes. The Highland Club at Fort Augustus is set on the southern end of Loch Ness in twenty acres of beautiful garden grounds on the shoreline of Loch Ness.
