Inheritance Tax Saving Wills

Did you know that a couple can - perfectly legally - save up to £120,000 in inheritance tax by arranging suitable Wills which cost a tiny fraction of that saving. By ensuring that the couple's assets are held in the appropriate way, and then making a discretionary trust (rather than the surviving partner) the primary beneficiary under the Will, both parties' IHT allowances are utilised.

If following the death of one partner the survivor ever requires residential nursing care then the Local Authority will take account of all thier assets, including the family home, when assessing how much they will be required to contribute to the costs. This has forced thousands of people to sell the family home to meet the required contributions. A Property Protection Will can take the property out of the equation and preserve it for future generations.

Enduring Powers of Attorney

Enduring Powers of Attorney are to be replaced by Lasting Powers of Attorney in October 2007. These will be significantly more complicated to execute and cost many times more.
