Bristol Family Mediators Association
Profile
What is Family Mediation ?
Mediation is a way of reaching agreements about the future without going to court. It is much easier to put forward your point of view and air your concerns in a private, safe place with a trained mediator who will focus on the issues that need decisions. However, mediation is voluntary – the courts will not insist on mediation although they do encourage it.
BFMA’s Mediators do not take sides and do not judge. They can make suggestions and give
information regarding possible ways forward. However, the decisions are yours.
Our Mediators treat all discussions in mediation as confidential. The exception to this would be if the mediator believed there to be a risk of harm to a person, especially a child.
Discussions in mediation are ‘without prejudice’. They cannot be used in court as evidence if the mediation is not successful.
BFMA have venues in Central Bristol, Kingswood, or Weston super Mare.
