Travel Insurance
The number one reason for travel insurance is to pay for emergency medical expenses if you are sick or injured on your study trip abroad, there have been many incidents where people with no insurance have paid thousands of pounds in medical costs and to get them home.
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office say they get more referrals for help from Gap Year travellers than any other type due to not being insured, and the help overseas Embassies can give is limited. This help consists of making contact with home and ‘holding your hand’. No monetary help can be offered.
There are many other reasons to buy insurance such as loss of luggage and passport, cancellation of your trip, bereavement travel costs and so on.
Language Level
Each language school has its own method for assessing your language ability. Some schools will test your ability on your first day at the school with a written test and a short oral assessment. You will then be placed in the correct level of class for your ability. Other schools like you to complete a written test prior to your arrival at the school and then will give you a spoken assessment on your first day.
Making sure you are enrolled on a course at the correct level for your language ability is of the up most importance in giving you the best language learning experience possible. All of our schools use the CEFR – Common Eurpoean Framework of Reference for Languages as a guide when setting their language levels and assessing your language ability. The six reference levels (as shown below) are widely accepted as the European standard for grading an individuals language ability.
