At Hazelwell Lodge we appreciate that making a decision to choose a home for you or a loved one is not an easy one. It's a decision that cannot be taken lightly.

The Lodge

Hazelwell Lodge is a 35 bed Care Home for the elderly situated in Parish town Ilminster in South West Somerset. Miss Edna Maxwin took over the running in 1987, for people with Old age and dementia. Her aim was to change people's perception of care homes and how people view their autumn years.

We are now a 35 bed home specialising in care for those who suffer from dementia and associated behavioural issues that may cause challenges in an unsupervised setting. The operation of the home is designed to enable such residents to resume a more appropriate and desirable way of living that deals with their individual needs on a personal level.

We provide safe environments that are adapted to the unique needs of the resident so that they can enjoy as much independence, mental and physical stimulation as possible.

Miss Maxwin has now been joined in the ownership of the home
by her son Chris Ochoa. With the support and interaction of local
authorities, NHS and Healthcare professionals it is clear to see
that Perceptions HAVE changed and Hazelwell Lodge holds an
important and respected position in the local community.

Activities

Cassie is our dedicated Activities Co-ordinator, who organises and arranges a variety of opportunities for our residents to enjoy daily activities in the home and in the local community.

Residents' preferred activities, interests and ability are discussed when they move in and an agreed plan ensures that these requests are fulfilled.

Among the activities we organise are supervised day trips to leisure facilities
and places of interest, as well as social events in our homes, including pet therapy, arts and crafts sessions, quizzes and bingo.

Our Services

At Hazelwell Lodge we provide a wide selection of services. These include a visiting hairdresser, visiting chiropodist, registered dentist, daily activities, external outings, laundry, daily newspapers, annual newsletter.
