Welcome

At Blaithwaite we can accommodate up to 112 guests in our 3 buildings; Mainhouse, Stables, Ellrigg. The Barn is a large meeting space with a variety of uses. We also have field for camping with fantastic views over the open countryside.

About Us

Blaithwaite House originated in 1800 as a small farm. In 1969 Rev Dennis Donald opened The Main House as a Christian Centre and in the following years old farm buildings were altered to provide further residential accommodation.

Today Blaithwaite is still owned by the Donald family but is managed by In2venture Community Interest Company (trading as Blaithwate House), a not for profit organisation which is part of the Christian Charity In2venture (Registration 518891).

In2venture has over 25 years of experience in providing outdoor education for the benefit of young people making Blaithwaite an ideal venue for Church; youth group and school residential visits.

Set in 30 acres Blaithwaite House can accommodate 112 guests in 3 residential buildings: Mainhouse, Stables and Ellrigg. We also have an approved camp site. During your visit to Blaithwaite you can walk around the grounds and enjoy the lovely gardens, relax in the conservatory, make use of our games field or participate in a wide range of enjoyable, challenging and educational activities.

Christian Conference Centre, Christian Outdoor Activity Centre, Cumbria

Blaithwaite has played host to many church groups, youth groups, Christian unions, family holidays, retreats, adventure holidays and many other events since it opened as a Christian Centre in 1969. It has been owned by the same family since 1800 and we all thank the Donald family for letting us spend time at this beautiful location. With 30 acres, 4 woods, formal gardens, three accommodation buildings, a large converted barn and a camping field it provides a unique site that can support individuals.
