About Us

The Fox and Goose Inn in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, is a privately owned, traditional real ale pub where the order of the day is the appreciation of quality cask conditioned ales and conversation in comfortable surroundings, free from the clatter of fruit machines and juke box.

The Fox specialises in serving a rotating selection of fine cask conditioned beers from small to medium sized independent brewers, with an emphasis on quality and choice. The exclusive house beer, Margerys Tiddlywink (named after the 14th century owner of the original ale house- see history section) is a 3.9% session beer brewed for us by Millstone Brewery, and is complemented by 4 guest ales- "Guest Best-un" (4.1% to 4.7% best bitter), "Guest Strong-un" (a stronger ale of 4.8% and above) "Guest Dark-un" (from a low gravity mild to a strong stout or porter and anything in between), and Guest Sesh-un (a session ale of up to 4%).

About Us

We also offer a guest scrumpy type cider or perry and a variety of English ciders in bottles, plus a wide range of bottled beers and lagers from the continent and across the world, a range of fine wines, and a wide selection of malt whiskeys and specialist spirits.

We have been priveliged to have been awarded the local CAMRA branch (Halifax and Calderdale) Pub of the Year for 2004 and 2006, and in 2006 were awarded the accolade of CAMRA Yorkshire Pub of the Year (Runner Up) for 2006.

About Us

We run twice yearly beer festivals, hold weekly (Monday night) quizzes and host regular music sessions, with a regular session on Wednesday evenings. We also welcome musicians to drop in and play at any time. With our dear friends Rachel and Jayne (the Pub Wombles) we have recently completed comprehensive research into the history of the Fox, culminating in the publication of a book, A Pathway Through History. Details of all these can be found in other sections of this site.

The Fox prides itself in being particularly dog friendly, with our furry friends being greeted by our own two pub dogs, Spike and Hesta. Children must be on a lead, and should be in bed by 8.30pm!
