About Us...

Formed in 1945 in Heywood, North Manchester Rothwells has a history and character which is unique. We've started an archive of historical trips and photographs. If you have any to share with us, please get in touch.

All of our vehicles are kept in good condition at all times, regularly cleaned and serviced. They all come with reclining seats, safety belts and air conditioning as standard. All our drivers are fully CRB-checked as well.

We have vehicle sizes from 16 to 74 seats. Private hire is the main stay of our business. We do lots of work for schools. We can cater for senior citizens and any other type of group.

More Information...

The DHO is one of the old Alpine Clubs, founded by the British in Wengen in Switzerland in 1925. Our window to the wider world is our famous race-training programme for young aspiring athletes. We travel abroad for 6 or 7 camps each year to train and then pit our talents against rivals from other clubs in the English, Scottish and British Championships.

Travel is an important part of the camps. Do we fly and then spend five times the cost of the flight on transporting gates, walkie talkies, drills, video equipment, tuning equipment, not to mention the three or four pairs of skis for each trainee?

The DHO has found a much better solution. We have been using Rothwell Supertravel for well over 20 years. The bus starts in Manchester, picks up en route and meets the majority of our trainees - together with their tons of equipment - at Clacket Lane service station on the M25. We catch an afternoon ferry and travel overnight, stopping for supper and breakfast. In between we sleep and watch endless videos.

This door to door travel is easy, safe, no hassel and it means unlimited luggage - a huge bonus for the skier.

Once in the resort we might need the bus to take us to the lift station - this is especially true for glacier skiing in October - or at Easter when we race in the Scottish and the British Championships, and stay in a resort between the two venues.

Rothwells are reliable, understand our needs, totally friendly and nothing is too much or too difficult. We have all been through a lot together and I would not change them for all the tea in China.
