Foods and the art of cooking are a very vital part of the Indian culture. It is the spices like turmeric, ginger, garlic, green chillies, cloves, cinnamon, all of which have medicinal and healing properties that make the cuisine so extraordinary. Indian food includes perhaps the most astounding range of fresh vegetables and fruit cooked in a multitude of ways that help retain their freshness and nutrients. All Indian food is not mean to be hot and spicy, the spices used in Indian cooking ,does not make the food hot and spicy, it is the chillies, which add the heat to a dish, and this is a matter of preference and can easily omitted when cooking most foods. All Indian cooking does not contain numerous spices, each dish is created such that the main ingredient is well enhanced by just one main spice. Indian food does not have to be fatty and unhealthy; the quantity of the oil can is again a matter of preference. There are a lot of dishes that do not require oil at all, and can be prepared by roasting, grilling, steaming, and boiling the ingredients. Like any other cuisine, Indian food also has its self-indulgent and appalling dishes. Indian pickles are preparations of exotic fruits or vegetables cooked in preserving agents such as sugar, salt, oil and vinegar, and finally, blended with spices.

Dishes

They are savoury in taste and are traditionally served with Indian breads or as a main meal accompaniment. However, their uses outside of Indian food are limited only by your imagination.Try some with salads, cold meats or pizzas!
