About us

A residential field centre providing group accommodation (Groups 8-30), from only £12 pppn. Exclusive booking of the centre for a weekend (Mon-Fri) is just £560. The centre is located in the Forest of Dean, with 1.5 acres of grounds. Ideal for outdoor activity groups from Mountain Biking to Caving.

Welcome to the Oakraven Field Centre, located in the heart of nature, in the Forest of Dean. We are a residential field centre promoting outdoor activities, learning and research. We provide reasonable-cost accommodation for all ages, at a spectacular site. The main philosophy of the field centre is that of Eco-forestry. Eco-forestry emphasises holistic practices which strive to protect and restore ecosystems, rather than maximising economic productivity. Our main aims at the field centre are:

To encourage enjoyment of the outdoors and outdoor learning.
To encourage education and research.
To maintain, enhance and encourage appreciation of the site's habitats and rare native populations.

Live Role-Play (LRP) & Live Action Role-Play (LARP)

The Oakraven Field Centre recognises the importance of role-play and creativity, and encourages its use in education and outdoor adventure. We are LRP/LARP friendly and have a licence to run LRP/LARP in the acres of Forestry Commission land that neighbour the Oakraven Field Centre.
