Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a complementary healthcare therapy which can be your first port of call for diagnosing and identifying appropriate treatment. This approach is suitable for the majority of people from birth and through every stage of life. As Osteopaths we assess, treat and manage a wide range of conditions. When treating a patient we consider the person as a whole to deliver an appropriate bespoke therapy.

Sports Massage

Sports massage is a deep tissue massage aimed at alleviating tension and stresses that build up during daily life. The main aim of this treatment is to ease muscular tension and to enhance the function of soft tissues by improving circulation, remodelling scar tissue and balancing muscle fibres.

Osteopathy:

First Appointment £70 (60 mins)
This involves us taking a full case history, osteopathic assessment and treatment.

Returning Patient Appointments £50 (30 mins)
During this appointment the osteopath will assess your continuing progress and treatment as well as offer exercises/advice if wanted.

Sports Massage:
First appointment/full body massage £60 (60 mins)

Returning/legs/head & neck £30 (30 mins)

What to Expect

What to expect on your visit

Your first appointment will last longer than following-up appointments to allow the osteopath to listen and ask questions about your problem. The osteopath will also take a detailed medical case history including information about your general health, life style, any medical care you may be receiving or medication you are taking.

The osteopath will then examine you and as osteopaths consider the body as a whole it is likely that you will be asked to dress down to your underwear. If you would be more comfortable in shorts, crop top or sports bra please bring these with you or a gown can be provided.

Your posture and mobility will be observed and you may be asked to perform simple movements. The osteopath will also examine the health of the joints, tissues and ligaments using their hands via highly developed sense of touch called palpation. Depending on your case history the osteopath may also perform other clinic examinations, and tests, for example taking your blood pressure.

Treatment will then be given after a discussion of your treatment plan. This will be hands on and can include (but is not exclusive to): physical manipulation, stretching, massage, cranial techniques and joint mobilisation. Please feel free to ask questions at any point, especially if you feel unsure or concerned.

After Treatment

Due to the physical nature of treatment it is not unusual to sometimes feel stiff or sore in the first 24-48 hrs after your appointment. Your osteopath will explain any likely reactions and coping strategeorgies. If you have any concerns at all please contact us and ask our advice.

It is more than likely that your symptoms will not be completely resolved after just one visit. In each subsequent visit the osteopath will review your progress and explain your development as well as continuing with treatment.

Please note that any appointment for a child under the age of 17 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
