Many family lawyers agree that mediation offers the best route through your separation rather than solicitors. For many people, the court process takes far too long, is far too expensive and often results in a less than satisfactory experience for the whole family. The laws and processes for separation and divorce have changed to recognise that it's better for most couples to go to mediation, and so you'll have to show that you've have attended at least one mediation meeting (MIAM) before you can apply for a court order. Part of the MIAM process is to sign court documents to prove you have attended or proven that mediation isn't appropriate.

A mediator helps you to talk with your former partner about finances, children, housing and anything else that needs to be resolved. Your mediator is specifically trained in the legal practices and processes of Family Law, but more importantly in mediation itself, to help and support both of you in a collaborative, impartial and informative way. Our mediators will give you all the information you need to help you make the right choices and agree your future apart.
