New Childminder to the Gravesend Area

Hello, I'm Angela Hallam. I'm an Ofsted-registered Childminder based in Gravesend, Kent.
I completed my Ofsted childminder registration in early 2017.
I'm 40 years old and Mum to my beautiful daughter Sydney, who was born in February 2013.
After I gave birth to our daughter Sydney, I totally changed my whole perspective on life and had a desire to start a far more rewarding career after spending 22 years in a very unrewarding role in Investment Management.
When I returned to work after maternity leave, my husband and I decided that a childminder would be the best option for Sydney as we wanted a home-from-home environment, and for it be as similar a routine to what she has at home as possible.
Seeing how much fun she has and how she has developed with her childminder has given me the inspiration to become a childminder myself and give other parents the option to return to work knowing their child is being cared for.

I have found teaching Sydney do something for the first time the most wonderful and rewarding things and it is a privilege to be involved in a child's learning and development.
Returning to work isn't easy for any parent but knowing that your child is being cared for as if they were my own enables you to hopefully make that transition more smoothly.

Having been a working mother myself, I have been through the process and anxieties of handing over your child to someone else to look after. I know that it isn't always easy to make that choice, and I understand how important it is to feel that you are leaving your child with someone who will care for them, stimulate and teach them, and provide fun activities for them.
You want your child to feel at home and safe and secure, in a place where you feel that your child's interests are being taken into account, not somewhere where they just have to "fit in" with whatever is going on around them.
That is part of the service that I provide, aiming to work in partnership with parents to ensure that all the children in my care get the best out of their childhood, and enjoy and achieve life to the full.

I also aim to help children to have a healthy childhood, by encouraging them to eat healthily and look after their bodies, and encouraging them to make a positive contribution to their daily lives - by valuing and enjoying their individuality and teaching them to feel good about themselves and appreciating and valuing both their similarities and differences to other in a positive way.
I provide a safe, loving and warm home from home setting that gives babies and children the opportunity to develop their own identity and build confidence through a range of learning and play opportunities...
Being a childminder I can offer flexible routines for your child's feeding and sleeping patterns (unlike the strict routines of nurseries) as well as quality one-on-one time.
