Sitsiam Camp A Brief History.
Here at the Sitsiam Camp our mission statement is "To promote the Thai Martial Arts with great endeavour". It was our promise when the club opened and we will continue to carry out our mission today in the process helping our students become not just 'Good fighters' but also 'Good people'.
1983 Sitsiam Camp opened its doors for the first time at the Fighters and Fitness Centre, St Willibrords, North Road, Clayton, Manchester, England.
1987 Sitsiam Camp devised a set of rules for junior competition the "All Styles Semi-Contact" (ASSC) and "All Styles Full Contact" (ASFC) which was adopted throughout the UK and Europe.
1993 Sitsiam Camp was honoured to be appointed representative for the Buddhai Swan Institute in Thailand. The Institute can date its history back over 600 years. Sitsiam Camp continue to represent Buddhai Swan outside Thailand to the present day.
1994 Sitsiam Camp opened the first Anglo/Thai Muay Thai Institute in Rayong, Thailand under the name SiamSak Sports International. This was a joint venture between close Thai friends in Thailand, Mr Virasak and Mr Toemsak and the Sitsiam Camp.
In the same year, the Sitsiam Camp moved to Aston under Lyne where the school remains to the present day.
1997 Sitsiam Camp organised the first ever I.F.M.A./A.M.T.A.T. European Amateur Muay Thai Championships at the George Lawton Hall in Mossley, Tameside.
2010 a new emblem (badge) was designed which encompassed the spirit of the camp depicting old-style (Muay Boran) Thai boxers and utilising a portion of the emblem of Buddhai Swan, the crossed swords (Daab) and spear (Hork).
2014 a second emblem was designed depicting a Thai boxer and Thai warrior. The emblem uses the words "Thai Martial Arts", because from the very early days of teaching Muay Thai the Sitsiam Camp has progressed and evolved and now teaches Thai Martial Arts which, include; Muay Thai, Muay Boran and Krabi Krabong.
2018 and 35 Years on Sitsiam Camp is still going strong and is now teaching students from the second and even third generations of the same families. Sitsiam Camp is one of the oldest Muay Thai Camps in Europe.
All this would not have been impossible without the support of some of the most renowned Teachers of the Thai Martial Arts in Thailand and of course our dedicated teacher Arjarn Tony Moore and Club Secretary Karen Moore.
